The Lion – Implementation

In 2022 we had the great pleasure of developing a Strategic Plan for The Lion in Richlands. This document serves as a guiding framework for decision-making and has been reviewed and updated on a 6 monthly basis to ensure ongoing relevance in a changing environment.

The Key Strategic Priorities are aligned with the company’s annual Budget and Business Plan, Master Plan, and associated Business Case(s). The Executive Management Team regularly reports actual results against the adopted Key Performance Objectives during monthly meetings. Ultimately, this plan supports the Executive Management Team in delivering well-defined outcomes for the company.

Momentum has been privileged to work alongside the motivated management team and with the support of the Board to implement key priorities. Such achievements include $1.16m in funding for various initiatives, the Richlands changeroom redevelopment and field irrigation upgrade with the support of Qld State Govt funds, hosting Nigeria as part of the Women’s World Cup, Darra carpark redevelopment with the support of Brisbane City Council funding, energy efficiency audit, specific planning for various development initiatives both at the Pine Rd venue as well as at the club’s 2 satellite locations (C J Greenfield and Darra Reserve) and engagement with a broad range of stakeholders as part of these processes.

The club is marching towards 60,000 members, has 280 staff, outstanding modern facilities, ample carparking and provides school-based traineeship and apprenticeship programs. From a football perspective the club offers a program unmatched in Queensland. Some stats from 2023: 1,037 players spanning 78 teams, a Masters Football Program with 2,110 players across 84 teams (Over 35 and 45’s), coordinated support for 28 schools and ongoing delivery of a raft of programs and events.

We are genuinely excited as we move towards 2024 in our ongoing role with the club.
