The goal of our risk management plans is to develop a resource that guides club representatives in providing a safer environment and experience for club members.
Our approach has three steps:
The first step in the risk management program is to identify what risks exist (or may exist in the future) within the club environment. It is important that people who are regularly involved in the sport are involved in identifying risk areas. There is no substitute for actual practical experience in working out why accidents occur, or what presents a potential problem.
Categories will vary from one group to the next depending on the nature of the organisation, the industry (or sport) in which the organisation operates and the environment. Personnel (duty of care) and organisational considerations (governance, management and operations) remain as constants.
Once risks have been identified an assessment is undertaken to assess (rate) the risk. In order to systematically assess the identified risks a risk rating scale (matrix) is utilised.
This process considers the likelihood of the risk occurring, the loss or damage impact if the risk occurred (consequence/ severity) and the priority, or degree of urgency required to address the risk.
Consultation is important as part of the process to ensure that the requirements of relevant stakeholders are considered. Such stakeholders may include
The ultimate goal of such projects is to develop a resource that will guide club representatives in providing a safer environment and experience for club members.
Matthew recently assisted the Albany Creek Swim Club with the development of its strategic plan for the next five years.
Matthew's focus, passion and enthusiasm were evident to all of the club's committee members in attendance during the planning workshop. The resultant thoroughness and quality of the finalised strategic plan surpassed all of the committee's expectations.
It was a pleasure to work with Matthew and I would highly recommend Matthew and Momentum Sport Recreation and Health Consultants to any other sporting club or organisation in need of his services.
